Mounir Nasraoui , the father of Spain Euro 2024 star Lamine Yamal was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in a car park on Wednesday evening.
According to reports, Nasraoui was in the Spanish town of Mataro where he is understood to have been attacked after a fight broke out in the parking lot with him being stabbed ‘multiple times’.
It is gathered that he is in a serious condition following the stabbing with an ambulance taking him to the nearby Can Ruti hospital in Badalona, as reported by La Vanguardia, (via Daily Mail).
An investigation has now been opened to find those responsible for the vile act as Nasraoui remains in hospital with doctors providing emergency treatment.
Witnesses who watched the stabbing unfold have reportedly been approached by local police in Mataro as law enforcement rallies to unearth crucial information about the attack.
Some reports in the nation have suggested the attack could have been a ‘settling of scores’ in relation to a previous altercation.
Nasraoui has been his son’s biggest supporters over the years and was present as 17-year-old Yamal secured the European Championship title with Spain where they beat England in the final.
Yamal was Spain’s star of the tournament, with his father previously declaring that the rising superstar could ‘be greater than [Lionel] Messi.’
