South Sudan emerged as the second team to attract over 27,000 fans during the group-stage matches at the Paris 2024 Olympics Men’s Basketball Tournament, second only to the USA.
According to statistics reported by Basketnews, the East African country recorded 27,021 attendees during their historic win against Puerto Rico in the Group C opener, which ended 90-79.

However, South Sudan was ranked 10th overall with an average attendance of 24,998.
Leading in attendance was the USA, whose games in the group stage drew over 27,000 fans each, with an average attendance of 27,209. The U.S. played in the top three most-attended matches, drawing 27,328 fans against Serbia, 27,056 against South Sudan, and 27,244 against Puerto Rico.
The host nation France ranked fourth in attendance, averaging 26,842 fans per game. They were preceded by Australia with 26,940 and Japan with 26,913, in addition to the United States.
The first stage of the Olympic Basketball Tournament was held at Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille. As the playoffs begin on Tuesday, August 6, the Olympic Games will move to the Bercy Arena in Paris, which can accommodate 20,300 spectators.
