The reinstated Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, Emeka Beke, on Tuesday gave a condition to work with Governor Sim Fubara.
Beke said Rivers APC, under his leadership, would work with Fubara if the governor extends a hand of fellowship to the party.
Speaking on Arise TV Morning Show, Beke noted that Fubara should be allowed to carry out his constitutional duties as governor.
The reinstated chairman also downplayed any link between the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and Fubara.
According to Beke: “I worked with Rotimi Amaechi and he is my leader, and he has no link with Fubara.
“If he extends a hand of fellowship to APC, we will work with him and develop the state. We can’t continue fighting; Rivers is going backwards.
“You can’t have two governors in one state, even if your own son is made governor, you should allow him to function.
“We have finished the politicking; it’s now time for governance.”
Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, have been at loggerheads since the governor assumed office.
Fubara’s face-off with his predecessor was said to be centred around the control of the political structure in the state.
Despite interventions from critical stakeholders and President Bola Tinubu, the rift has continued.
This situation affected the state legislature, as the Rivers State House of Assembly currently has factional speakers.
