1. The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has decried the destruction of section three of the newly rehabilitated Kano-Maiduguri highway by flooding. In a statement by the minister’s media aide, Orji Uchenna Orji, Umahi said it was unfortunate that completed roads in the country did not last five years.
2. One of Nigeria’s most successful businessmen, Tony Elemelu, on Saturday, accused former President Muhammadu Buhari of blocking his bid to acquire an oil field. He said that Heirs Holdings, his company, had been looking to purchase the oilfield since 2017 and raised $2.5bn for this, but Buhari and his late Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, blocked the deal.
3. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has kicked against attempts to impede the progress of the Dangote Refinery. In a post via X on Saturday, Atiku described the refinery as a significant private sector project positioned to meet the country’s energy and foreign exchange needs.

5. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said most of those occupying public offices in Nigeria lack the character to lead the country, rather they should be behind bars or gallows. Obasanjo spoke at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State, while receiving six members of the House of Representatives who are co-sponsors of a bill on single term of six years.
6. Some gunmen on Friday shot dead a humanitarian worker, Chris Terfa Akpu, in Makurdi, Benue State capital. It was gathered on Saturday that the late Akpu was killed by unknown gunmen in his office in Catholic Youth Centre Church, Makurdi.
7. The one million-man march planned by leaders of the #EndBadGovernance protest flopped on Saturday across the country due to low turnout. In different parts of Nigeria, protesters shunned their usual meeting points, which had been occupied by security agents.
8. The chairman of the Ikeja Tricycle Riders Association, Oladimeji Ahmed, 48, is currently in police custody following a violent altercation with a police officer. The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a post on X on Saturday.
9. Plateau State Government has further relaxed the 24-hour curfew earlier imposed on Jos-Bukuru metropolis following violent protests in the area. Gyang Bere, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to Gov. Caleb Mutfwang, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Jos.
