Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa state has approved N888 million for the National Examinations Council (NECO) registration charges.
The governor of Jigawa state Namadi has released N888 million to settle the NECO and other examination fees of 39,709 candidates.

N888 million fund: “Covers payment for 39,709 candidates”
The funds would also be used for the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) and National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) for Jigawa’s candidates for the 2024 academic year.
The payment covers the payment for 39,709 candidates who wrote the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), National Examinations Council (NECO), the National Teachers Certificate (NTC), NABTEB, SAIS/STQ and NBAIS examinations, The Nation reported on Friday, August 9.

Sagir Musa, the Commissioner for Information, Youths, Sport and Culture in Dutse made this known in a statement released to the press on Friday.
Musa said that the money was approved by the State Executive Council after a meeting on Thursday, August 8.
Other funds released by Jigawa govt
Speaking further, the commissioner noted that the council also approved N921.9 million for additional works on the ongoing contract for the maintenance/rehabilitation of Auyo -Kafin Hausa road to Messrs. ALREN Construction Company Ltd. and N16.1m as additional award of Consultancy Services to Messrs Innovative Engineering Consultant.
He explained that the council also approved N400 million as support for Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs) in the state.
“The approval is the last tranche of the N1 billion earlier approved by the council to the project account,” he said.
The commissioner added that the council also approved the establishment of a 10-member committee for the implementation of new minimum wage in the state.

He said that the Jigawa Head of Service as Chairman and Commissioners of Justice, Finance, Budget, Local Government, Basic Education, Health, Information, Special Adviser Salary and Pension, will serve as members and Personal Personal Secretary to Gov. Umar Namadi, will serve as Secretary.
Kwara governor gifts cash award to best student in WAEC
In a similar development, Henzodaily.ng reported that Master Shalom Adesina of Rehoboth College, Pipeline, Ilorin, was awarded the sum of one million naira for his outstanding performance in 2023 May/June WASSCE.
Kwara state governor, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq, said the cash award was to encourage and support Adesina’s academic pursuit.
AbdulRazaq said Adesina had done the state proud and deserved to be motivated for scoring distinctions in all his subjects.
