Team Nigeria’s Samuel Ogazi, has reflected on his performances in the Paris 2024 Olympic Men’s 400m event, noting that representing the country in the final of the race was a dream come true.

Ogazi raised hopes for a medal after finishing third in heat 3 of the 400m semi-finals with a personal best time of 44.41s, becoming the first Nigerian athlete to reach the final in 36 years.

Great Britain’s Matthew Hudson-Smith won the race with a time of 44.07s, while Michael Norman came in second with a time of 44.26s in the semi-finals.

After finishing third in the semi-final, Ogazi placed seventh with a time of 44.37s in the final.

Recounting his experience at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Ogazi appreciated his fans for their support in his X (formerly Twitter) post and also thanked his coach, describing the final as a dream come true.

“Standing in the Olympic finals is a surreal experience, filled with excitement and pride. Reaching the Olympic finals has been a dream come true, and it wouldn’t have been possible without your unwavering support,” Ogazi wrote.

“To my coach, your guidance and belief in me have been invaluable. Your dedication has pushed me to reach new heights, and I am forever thankful for your mentorship.”

He added: “To my fans, your cheers and enthusiasm have been a constant source of motivation. Your support has greatly bolstered my confidence, and I am honored to have you by my side.”

Ogazi attributed his achievement in reaching the final to dedication and hard work.

“This moment is a culmination of years of hard work and the unwavering support from all of you. Together, we have achieved something truly remarkable,” he assured.
