Both Mbappe and Griezmann had hoped to represent their home country.
However, reports indicate that their clubs, Real Madrid for Mbappe and Atletico Madrid for Griezmann, have not granted them permission.
Thierry Henry, the Olympic team coach, alongside President Emmanuel Macron and France's senior team manager Didier Deschamps, have publicly discussed the possibility of allowing Mbappe to participate.
With Mbappe's expected move to Real Madrid, there was hope for a compromise, but so far, it has been denied.
