The senator representing Ebonyi Central senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Kenneth Eze, has distributed 1,160 bags of fertiliser to rural farmers in the 58 wards of the district to ensure food sufficiency and bumper harvest.
Sen Eze, who is the Senate Committee chairman on Information and National Orientation, expressed regret that the recent nationwide protest affected the transportation of another set of fertiliser procured by him from the depot in the North down to the East.
The senator who made the distribution during his one-year constituency briefing assured the people that more fertiliser would soon arrive in the state and would be distributed to them to ensure that Ebonyi remains one of the highest producers of food in the country.
He noted that 220 bags of fertiliser was allocated to Ezza North LGA, another 220 bags to Ezza South, 400 bags to Ikwo while Ishielu local government received 320 bags.
“I have made a financial allocation of N10 million to ease the transportation of the fertiliser to your various wards,” he added.
Senator Eze commended President Bola Tinubu for the removal of the fuel subsidy adding that the removal of the subsidy has made funds available for the federal government and states to function effectively.
He noted that though the effects of the subsidy might be hard on the people, its overall benefits would soon be acknowledged by the citizens of the country.
“The removal was an unavoidable measure to prevent the government from running out of resources. States in particular could not had seen funds to run its operations if the subsidy was not removed. I join other leaders in the country to urge the citizens to be patient,” he said.
He explained that the economic problems Nigeria is facing currently did not begin with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu but had built up for several years.
