Germany ended Greece’s medal hopes led by Giannis Antetokounmpo, winning 76-63 with a 13-point margin on Tuesday, August 6, in the first knockout game of the Paris 2024 Olympic Men’s Basketball Event at the Bercy Arena.
Germany’s victory propelled them to the semifinals after they overcame a 12-point deficit, trailing 21-9 in the first quarter, and managed to tie the game at 36 before halftime.

Germany’s Franz Wagner shone in the second half, leading his team with a strong performance.
Wagner finished the game with a team-high 18 points (8/17 FG, 1/2 FT).
Team captain Dennis Schroder added 13 points (5/12 FG) and 8 assists, while Johannes Thiemann also contributed in double digits with 10 points and 6 rebounds.
Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 22 points (9/14 FG, 4/6 FT) and played almost 34 minutes, also recording 2 rebounds and 3 assists.
Thomas Walkup supported him with 12 points, and captain Kostas Papanikolaou added 10 points and 9 rebounds.
