CLEEN Foundation has advocated for the adoption and use of technology in the operations of the Nigeria Police Force to adequately tackle crimes and criminalities in the country for improved security of lives and property.
The foundation’s executive director, Mr Gad Peter, said this during a workshop organised for non-governmental organisations to support the implementation of solution-driven strategies for enhanced accountability in the police.
“There is a difference between police work and policing. We all are policing for police and other security forces working in the country to encourage them and enforce the importance of good governance.
“Reform in the police is not just about changing policies; it’s about changing mindsets and building a culture of trust and accountability,” Peter said.
He said that ordinarily, reforms in the police should be tailored to enhance training programmes for police officers and the establishment of independent oversight bodies to monitor police activities.
He added, ” These measures aim to bridge the gap between the police and the communities they serve, fostering a more collaborative and transparent relationship.”
