Hoodlums have reportedly disrupted and as well chased peaceful protesters from the venue of the ongoing nationwide protest at Effurun Roundabout in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, DAILY POST reports.
The hoodlums chased the peaceful protesters with sticks, broken bottles and other dangerous weapons as armed security operatives watched without forestalling any breakdown of law and order.
At the moment, there’s tension on the ground as peaceful protesters insist that they must protest.
DAILY POST correspondent reports that the peaceful protesters had come out late for the protest, bearing placards with inscriptions such as “Too Much Hunger, Mr. President, Reduce Fuel Price,” “End Bad Governance in Nigeria,” “Reverse Subsidy Policy, Reform Nigeria,” and “Emilokan, It is Your Turn to Suffer Us, Mr. President.”
The protesters said the hunger and hardship in the country had made them lose hope in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government of Nigeria.
They urged the president to improve their welfare by reviewing the subsidy policy, reforming the country and putting an end to bad governance.
They were going about peacefully, chanting solidarity songs, when the counter-protesters, mainly hoodlums, appeared and chased them.
