In the statement signed by Joyce Anderson Idakwo, the group alleged that the desired of the pro-Wike group was to disrupt the local government election process and undermine democracy.

The group then condemned the use of violence and explosives, which demonstrated a blatant disregard for human life.

According to CHRADA, the incident is not isolated, stating that the pro-Wike group has previously used explosives to destroy public buildings and people, adding that the minister’s supporters can be probed at the International Criminal Court for the crimes.

Furthermore, CHRADA warns that the use of non-state actors to perpetrate violent crimes will have devastating consequences for the Niger Delta region if left unchecked by the authorities.
