The reigning champions, the Boston Celtics, will face the New York Knicks to begin their title defence as the 2024/2025 NBA season commences on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
The Boston Celtics versus New York Knicks clash will be followed by a second game featuring the Los Angeles Lakers welcoming the Minnesota Timberwolves on opening night.

The second match, as reported by The Athletic, could be historic as LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, could play on the same court for the first time.
Last season, the 2023-24 campaign began with the Denver Nuggets hosting the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns taking on the Golden State Warriors.
For the 2024-25 opening night:
– Knicks at Celtics (Ring Ceremony)
– Timberwolves at Lakers
Other notable games and their dates:
– Klay Thompson’s first return trip to the Bay Area: Nov. 12, when the Mavericks visit the Warriors at Chase Center.
– Celtics-Mavericks NBA Finals rematch dates: Jan. 25 in Dallas and Feb. 6 in Boston.
– The Clippers are slated to open their new Intuit Dome for the first regular-season game on Oct. 23, when they host the Suns.
