Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili has expressed disappointment over the omission of her name from the 100m race at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Ofili made this outburst via her ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, July 30, blaming the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) for the oversight.

Ofili, who qualified for both the 100m and 200m events, regretted the omission and recounted her preparation ahead of the Olympics.
“It is with great regret that I have just been told I will not be competing in the 100 meters at this Olympic Games. I qualified, but those with the AFN and NOC failed to enter me. I have worked for 4 years to earn this opportunity. For what?,” Ofili states bitterly.
She recalled how lack of release of fund denied her participation at Tokyo 2020 Olympics, calling on the country’s sport regulatory bodies to be held accountable.
She recalled: “Please remember, in the last Olympic Games I was not able to compete because AFN, NADC and NOC failed to release funds for athletes to be tested, which made 14 Nigeria athletes that qualified to not compete. Now THIS…
