Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has disclosed that the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps has been equipped to assist in safeguarding rural communities.

During a visit to Kebbe local government area, Governor Aliyu said the lack of proper office accommodation that hindered the take-off of the corps, especially in the 13 local government areas worst affected by banditry is now over.

“We have provided the corps all the needed logistics  to operate in our local communities, we recently completed the office accommodation for the corps,” he said.

He urged people of the state to continue to give the corps the needed support to discharge their duties effectively.

The governor also ordered the immediate assessment of Kebbe Bridge which is on the verge of collapse, in order to reconstruct it. He also said work on the installation of 250 solar powered street lights in Kebbe local government was progressing, adding that two Juma’at Mosques are to be renovated in addition to the construction of two feeder roads in the area.

While in Tambuwal, Governor Aliyu assured on  completion of the Alhasan-Fagga- Bakaya road project awarded at the cost of N2bn as well as the Prison- Yagawal-Na Baguda road also awarded at the cost of N2.6bn.

The governor also promised to construct the Jega- Samo, Romo- Kaya-Barga and Gudul -Kandamare-Rijiya road projects, all in Tambuwal local government area.

In Shagari local government, Governor Aliyu pledged to construct Dandin Mahe-Mabera, Era-Rijiyar Malam and the Ginga junction- Horo Birni feeder roads in addition to the renovation of two Jumma’at mosques.

 

Earlier in Yabo, the governor assured people of the area of his administration’s commitment to construct Kilgori-Kwaidaza, Magacci- Ruggar Kizo as well as Bingaje-Beno feeder roads, as well as the renovation of Yabo Juma’at mosque.
