The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have reacted to the disappearance of its official X handle from the microblogging platform.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the anti-graft agency’s account ceased to exist online on Tuesday afternoon for about an hour.
“This account doesn’t exist,” X responded to all devices trying to access @officialEFCC on Tuesday.
When the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) contacted the anti-corruption agency over the development, EFCC’s Spokesman, Dele Oyewale said the disappearance was as a result of network issue.
He replied “Are you sure? Let me find out from our Information and Technology unit.
“It is just a network issue. Our IT people are attending to it and it would be back up soon.”
One of the conditions for an account to stop existing on the microblogging platform is a ban from X. An account owner can also delete his or her account handle.
“Account owners have the ability to deactivate their account at any time. When an account owner deactivates their account, the page will be rendered as unavailable,” according to X rule.
The account handle as of the time of filing this report, has not come up.
